City codes and ordinances

Sugarfoot is zoned for single-family dwellings, but because of the proximity to the University, there are many rental units in the neighborhood.

The City of Gainesville has several city codes designed to preserve and protect our neighborhoods. Code violations include trash in the yard, overgrown lawns, parking on the grass or lawn, and too many renters.

Parking violations are common at rental houses. The code requires cards to be parked in the garage, the carport, or in the driveway -- not on the grass. You can call Gainesville Code Enforcement at 352-334-5030 or you can email complaints to codes@cityofgainesville.org.

Noise violations include loud music, noisy parties, and barking dogs. Call the police department's non-emergency number: 352-955-1818.
